Understanding PES, PEC and DST previews

Machine embroidery files describe movements and commands, not finished photographs. This viewer draws the sewn line segments and reports their extents.

PES and PEC

PES contains an embedded PEC stitch block. This tool reads that block and its approximate palette. It does not use proprietary PES thread-brand metadata, so the preview may differ from your original software.

DST

DST records stitch movements and color-change commands but not original thread colors. We show a neutral ink preview. Use your source color chart to choose real thread.

Limits and errors

Each design must be no larger than 8 MiB and no more than 200,000 decoded commands. A library holds up to 100 designs, 64 MiB of file data and two million commands. ZIPs must be under 24 MiB, expand under 64 MiB, and contain at most 100 supported designs. Encrypted, split and ZIP64 archives are unsupported.

Corrupt or truncated files, unsupported sequins, mismatched extensions and missing end markers are rejected. A failed file does not remove valid designs already in the library. Try extracting a smaller collection on your computer if an archive fails.

This is not a machine validator

We do not digitize, convert, repair or certify files for stitching. Verify your machine format, hoop fit, thread chart and stitch-out in the appropriate software. PDF text uses a Latin font; unsupported characters become question marks, with a notice after export.
